At one of my all time favorite scrapping stores I found these...candy tins. Being as I can't stay with ONE craft at a time, I thought how, possibly could I use these? Then came my AH-HA moment. I would purchase them, decorate the lids, and put gift cards in them for the kids teachers. (Nevermind they had a sample made with this just in mind. I would love to take credit for such craftiness...but can't) I snatched up six tins, and went on my merry way home to decorate.
Then today, while sitting down to have fun with the sixth one, I realized...Stephanie has 7 teachers....Maddi has 7 too....Connor and Emily each have 2 PLUS the preschool director. I would have to decorate 19 tins...PLUS buy gift cards to put in them. Being from the teaching profession myself, I know the importance of feeling appreciated....but....how could I possibly dish out almost $450 for teacher gifts, when I don't even buy for my entire family??? So, tonight I did the unthinkable. I told the two older girls to pick their favorite teachers. THEY will get the cute, adorable candy tins with gift cards. The others will get brownies. Phew...financial disaster diverted. (But, then knowing how teachers talk in the lounge started wondering if they should ALL get brownies. What, if by chance, they started comparing gifts???)
As for the little faith... that would be hunky hubby. He thought I went to a store and snapped a photo of a tree, instead of me actually decorating ours at home. He didn't recongnize any of the ornaments or ribbons, so naturally he thought I was being a smarty pants and trying to trick him. WELL....trick is on you hunky hubby. I went to the store yesterday morning at 9 am and purchased some new stuff. :) ha! ha! Take that!
