Good News..and Bad News...
Let's start with the GOOD news, shall we?
Yesterday we drove down to Los Alamitos for our niece Emma's first birthday party. I WISH I had taken photos, because it was amazing. Emma's birthday theme was cupcakes, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Jenny had centers set up throughout the yard and house for the kids to venture to. She rented kid sized tables and chairs for the kidlets and had oodles of wonderful decorations. I took a few pics of my kids, but NONE of the decorations or birthday girl to share. I am a horrible aunt. Even the centerpieces were to die for. I am sure the photos will make it on someone else's blog, and when it does, I will make sure to forward it all for you. When we left Dale asked me why I didn't do parties like THAT. Truly, Jenny should go in to business planning and organizing birthday parties! Happy Birthday Emma! I know most of my readers know Emma, however for those who don't, Emma is the most well behaved, CALM baby I have ever known. (SiGH) Must be from Jenny's genes. :)
Prior to the party I got up at 5:30 for the community garage sale...by 8 we had made about 200. (Dale had been on duty the night before, so made it home at 7:30) While I am thrilled with the extra cash, (especially after the bad news) I realized I am SOOOO NOT A GARAGE SALE person. I hate arguing that something that cost us a $100 should be $7 rather than $4.
Next wonderful news is....last week Emily spent an hour in Connor's kindergarten class to make sure she was ready for September. In my heart I thought she was, however, just wanted reassurance from the teacher. Let's just say Miss E shined!!! When the teacher asked her name, she not only said it, she spelled it out, and wrote it on paper perfectly. She counted blocks and did other activities before joining the class for whole group instruction for 45 minutes. (I was not in the class....I wasn't allowed) Anyway, this is where I thought Emily might not do so well. She is an active, LOUD child, and I was worried she might be disruptive. However, she did GREAT, and I was told she is MORE than ready. Yee haw! I immediately signed on the dotted line, and got her registered for the Fall.
The other fantastic news is.....Steph is ok. So is the other driver.
Bad news? (As if you couldn't have guessed it from the above sentence!) Stephanie was in a car accident. And...we believe with all our hearts that the car accident was Stephanie's fault. I will be honest and say that our first inclination was that she was on her cell when it occurred. However, upon going through her phone, AND going onto Verizon online, we found out she was not. It happened at the corner of Imperial/Orangethorpe where all that construction is taking place while they build the bridge over the railroad tracks.
I got the phone call that EVERY teen parent hates...that their child has been in an accident. I got it as I was getting out of the shower (after garage sale) and getting dressed for Connor's soccer game, and Emma's party. As MAD and UPSET as I was, (AND STILL AM) I am glad she is okay, and that she didn't hurt herself or another person. Looks like I will be getting up at 6 to get her to school now. Grrrrr.
I was so preoccupied with Steph/accident that I was not much help to Jenny at the party. (Sorry Jenny!!!)
Here is a wonderful photo of the car. Both doors on the side won't open, and air bags were deployed.
Not TOO bad for being T-boned, don't you think?
Have a wonderful Sunday. :)
I'm so glad Stephanie wasn't hurt. I'm glad to see too that it looks like she didn't damage that new window tint job either. (ok, you have to find some humor in it somewhere!)
Have a wonderful weekend.

I was SO enjoying all the good news...I did not see that one coming! I knew you said there was bad news, but that's just not what I expected! I am so glad she's ok! And sorry you will have to be taking her to school - (can she not ride the bus?) When I wrecked my car in high school, I had to ride the bus until I got it fixed (or have a boyfriend pick me up - hee-hee!)

Oh man, that's why we have insurance on our little darlings. I have received that call as well only minutes after yelling, "Be really careful it's slippery after it rains!". Luckily it was a minor rear end and nothing ever came of it other than a small dent in the front of Ashley's car. I am just happy to hear that Steph is okay after seeing that car. Thank God for airbags.
Lesson learned.
