Is the Fourth of July!!! Dale is on duty that day, and S and M are in WA state with their father. I have had five invites from friends/family to join them and celebrate the holiday....I just don't know yet what I am going to do!!! A part of me just wants to hang at home and fest. Another part wants to be social...I think if I do join anyone it will be with someone that can help me control Emily. (ha ha!)
However, IF you are going somewhere, or are hosting a shin dig, here are some neat recipes to try!

Today Dale and I are emptying out our storage unit and bringing all the holiday and teacher bins home to store in the garage. I may not be able to walk around in it anymore...but I will be $150 richer every month. Also, we were going to Huntington Beach to look at a upright freezer we found on Craigslist. I have been wanting one so bad. Even though we have another fridge in the garage, I still do NOT have enough freezer room. When dropping off the kids at the sitters, she told me that she thought her neighbor would just GIVE me hers....(At least until they remodel a few years from now...and by then, I will only have 2 kids at home, rather than 4!) Anyway, we went over to look at it, and it is nicer and newer than the one we were going to purchase. Can you hear me squeal from where you live?
I am also taking advantage of the sitter time and washing down my walls along the hallways. Such a lovely chore.
Off to continue cleaning. Enjoy the weekend.
Toodles for now!
I am now nominating myself for Mom of the Summer. As I type this I am outside watching C and E, as well as two of their friends swim. This set of friends kept them busy earlier so I was able to scrap a double LO. Yeah!!!!!!!!!! In an hour I will drive these two to their respective houses...and then at 5 I meet up with another friend and her two kids to have dinner, then go to a show thingy at the library.
Tomorrow C and E are going to a sitter's. Thank you, Lord.
Today, while piling in C, E, their two friends, Maddi and her friend Maddie in the car, I waved to my Gardener and said "Hi, Miguel!" (I had to take Maddie home, and my Maddi to volleyball camp) He walks up to me and says, "My name is Rigoberto."
Say what????????? Miguel/Rigoberto has been my Gardener since we moved here, over 6.5 years ago. I have said hi every week, and have written out his check to Miguel. I have given him Christmas gifts, addressed to Miguel. Why has he not spoken up before?? And, why today? I am so curious. If I spoke better Spanish, or if he spoke better English, I would investigate this further. I am just so perplexed by this. Furthermore, how did this happen??? The only explanation I could come up with is that my girlfriend, whom we bought the house from TOLD me that was his name.
I called Dale at work to tell him, and he was just as confused as I was. Maybe Miguel has a double identity too???? LOL
Off to enjoy kids. (ha ha!)
Today I did a very brave thing. I let Connor and Emily each invite a friend over to play and swim. Six hours later, I plopped down on the chair and started to relax. In all fairness it wasn't all the lil one's who were keeping me busy. Steph and 3 of her BFF's were baking, and Maddi had a friend over. I had kids running up and down the stairs, jumping in the pool, and rummaging thru my fridge. I am just SO not a playdate mom. I am trying so hard to be better at it so that my kidlets aren't bored out of their mind this summer.
Chris vs. Christy
That would be me. I am Chris to half my friends, Christy to the other half. When I met my ex while in college he started calling me Chris. My family and "old" friends always called me Christy. When I met Dale he started calling me "Christy" even tho I was introduced to him as "Chris". Dale and I joke that when people call and ask for Chris they are friends from marriage number 1. When I am called Christy, they are marriage number 2 friends. It really hasn't caused a problem until recently when I started answering emails....and signing it Christy out of habit. Not a big deal at all...just sort of funny I guess. I have a double identity. But doesn't anyone who has been divorced and remarried??? I kind of think it is fitting....Chris was a pretty subservient wife...and Christy is a TOTALLY CONTROLLING one. In a good way, tho. lol. At least I will keep telling myself that.
Off to bathe kids...enjoy.
You ready for the results of the contest???? I enlisted some help from Miss E to help me pick the winner.
Tina Brown, congrats!!!! Please email me at Cateacher6223 (at) aol.com with your address, so I can forward it on to Michelle at The Scrappin' Table!
Next up, Mr. Yoshi. The other cats have not included him in their
Reindeer games. Finally, Fred let Yoshi take a nap with him. It lasted until Yoshi started messing around and bit him. Yoshi will learn someday...
However, this is a GREAT step toward being friends. :)
Now Typepad. I can't tell you how frustrated I am with the site, and the changes they have made with it. I have lost a few names of "blogs I stalk". I have NO idea where they vanished to. If you are one of the people (friends) that have been removed, PLEASE know that I did not do it...I am looking into the matter, and hope to have it resolved soon.
And, finally I found a lost picture from the river. I believe I took it on the last night. The girls were playing a card game around the table...Dale and I were so grateful when they played games, as that was when they were the quietest. If they weren't playing they were debating...not one subject was left alone. All six of the girls are in AP courses, and are pretty well read and articulate. Most of the time they talked over each other, sometimes getting louder to prove their point. (sigh) Dale and I agree that it was by FAR the loudest trip we have ever been on! Every night we put ear plugs in to go to sleep! However, you can tell from the photo they had fun!
Enjoy your evening!!!
My good friend Michelle is doing a lil contest. Her blog is named "What Matters Most"... and she has asked a few of her friends to write what matters most to THEM on thier blog.
I think almost everyone will say the same thing...family, friends, faith, pets...etc... So, I tried to think of ONE word that would describe all those things in my life. I came up with LOVE. LOVE matters most in my life. Without it I would be a pretty lonely, sad woman. Now, here is the fun part...leave a comment on my blog about what matters most in YOUR life, and I will randomly pick a comment/person and Michelle will send you a RAK goodie package. (Michelle owns The Scrappin' Table!)
I am going to add a new rule to this contest on my blog...
You can not say family and friends as what matters most....pick something else. :) Think outside the box!
I can't tell you how happy I am to be home. While I did have a good time at the river, it was a LOT of work. Cooking/Cleaning/Watching over 8 children is a tremendous amount of work. Now, I know you are thinking that 6 of them should be able to take care of themselves. And, by golly, a few did. The other few not so much.
I have to say that making sure 6 teens remain safe on jet skis and on a boat is very exhausting! They are lil dare devils in bikinis. Do not be misled by their innocent faces. LOL
Here are some more photos:
The above photo was taken seconds prior to the power steering going out. I was driving the boat because of two reasons. Number one, because Dale had ingested a couple of beers...and Number two, I am a control freak. Anyway, I was at a wider portion of the river when I decided to do a "donut" with the girls in the tube. While pulling out of it, I lost all steering. I KNEW IMMEDIATELY something was wrong. I quickly jumped out of the driver's seat and screamed for Dale to take over. All I was concerned about were the rocks on both sides of the water...and the boat or the kids on the tube hitting it. While Dale tried to get a handle on the boat, the other kids and I started pulling in the tube. I called the boat towing service and was told it would be over an hour for them to get to us. Nevermind we didn't have steering with 8 kids on board. (UGHHHHHHHH!) After awhile Dale managed to get it over to the side where there was some sand. Thankfully there were some campers nearby who helped us beach it...
After waiting almost two hours one of the campers put me in their car and we drove to a store for steering fluid. (Dale had found that a cable had come undone, and there was no fluid in it) We finally got it going again, and headed up river to where our vehicle was. Ten minutes away from the launch ramp, it went out again. At this point I swore. Not a nice swear word either. We had been on the water well over 7 hours...and I was one tired, grouchy, PMSing female. Never mind that it was 120 degrees out. I wanted to get home and shower so bad.
Long story short, we made it home after some more work on the boat. Before leaving this morning to come home Dale drove into Havasu and dropped the boat off at the boat dealership.
The GREAT news is the kids had a wonderful time. One of the girls said she had never gone away with another family before, and she loved it. (YEAH!) Emily had fun, but Connor had a BLAST watching the girls in their swim suits...what is up with boys????????? He is already such a flirt.
Off to go shower and unpack. ENJOY your night!
What do you do when you have 7 people on a boat (5 of them kids) AND towing 3 kids on a tube AND your power steering goes out?
Don't take photos.
Continue to panic.
Try and LOOK calm.
Watch hubby panic.
Move into hysteria.
