Well, Vegas never came to fruition.
Tuesday morning started out with Emily waking up before dawn throwing up. Now, whenever the dear child gets a horrible cough, she is KNOWN to hack her self to death until she throws up a little. We really weren't THAT alarmed. Then we felt her forehead. The kid was burning up. I called Nancy and my mom, and everyone was still on board for us to go... We drugged up Emily, and continued packing and getting our stuff together. At 7:48 as Dale was putting the suitcase in the car, Emily started throwing up again. At this point Dale and I threw in the towel and decided to stay home.
Emily has just been sick soooo much lately that we didn't want to chance anything. PLUS, even though her test results came back ok, we didn't know if the Dr. would want to see her again.
Dale got on the phone, and by 10:30 that morning, he was able to get the charges for the room, massages, AND the front row seat show tickets reversed. Southwest said that we could use the tickets up to a year later. We sat back, and nursed this little one back to health for the rest of the day.
Around 4 pm Emily's fever had broken, and she was on her way to being "herself" again. Dale suggested we leave the following day, to resume our getaway. I called my mom, Nancy, the neighbors, contractors, EVERYONE trying to make it happen. Everything was set, AGAIN. I called Southwest to use our tickets....
AND THEY WANTED $600.
Since we were booking less than 24 hours before our flight, we couldn't get the same rate. I was NOT about to spend that for a 24 hour turnaround trip. Not one chance!
We got back on the phone, and canceled all the plans for the second time.
Around 11 pm, Maddi came downstairs, complaining she didn't feel well. Then she turned around, and threw up in the trash can.
I looked at Dale and started busting up. We were NOT MEANT TO GO. I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason. EVERYTHING. We may not understand it at the time, but that is okay. I didn't understand my divorce at the time, but then I wouldn't have HH or booger #3 and #4 now. I didn't understand hurts that people have caused me in the past, but then I wouldn't appreciate kindness and thoughtfulness of others today.
Good news is Emily AND Maddi are feeling much better. Now I am just crossing my fingers that Stephanie and Connor don't get it.
On to BOXES...remember these?
For Saint Patrick's Day I am making these:
Got the idea for this from Stephanie...check her out!
I am going to make "Love Bites", fill up the boxes and hand them to my friends on St. Patty's day. (recipe coming soon!)
Off to go enjoy a bike ride with Dale, C and E! Have a GREAT day!
